Hello to all our Prayer Supporters!
I know you must all be praying because God is answering them! Here are a few quick updates.
* All the vehicles are fixed and running well. Praise the Lord! Also, the van that was towed – the staff was able to get it back the same day. Please keep praying for the one van to be released from customs. And please pray that the current vehicles would continue to work well.
* The weather has cleared up the last few days and Mike said they have been able to dry out. Another Praise the Lord! He also said the temperatures even cooled off a little at night this week.
*The staff was able to move into the different house this weekend and they have a new group with them. Also, there is an additional team coming in on Thursday. Mike will be leading this group until he finishes his time in Haiti on April 1st.
*Yesterday, the group was doing ministry in one of the tent villages and met a family with a 2 or 3 year old girl. The little girl had suffered 3rd degree burns on her foot. From the translation Mike was given, it sounded like the burn had happened when hot oil from a lamp spilled on her foot. That was 8 days ago. The team found Mike and had him come meet the family and hopefully work on the girl’s foot. By the time he made it to the family, someone else had wrapped the foot in gauze. So, he left it alone for the day and plans to follow up with the family each day to do wound care. Thanks to a wonderful couple we know, we were able to get medical instructions from a burn expert. So,please pray Mike will be able to meet this family each day to give this little girl some good care and for her to heal well. Also, just to show how God’s timing is so wonderful – Mike found out that a lady on this new team is in school to be a Nurse Practitioner and just finished her rotation on the burn unit. There is also an RN coming on the next team. So, please pray as they minister to this family over the next week.
* And, just because many of you have asked about food, here is what a typical day’s food is like.
Breakfast consists of instant oatmeal and maybe some fruit. Lunch is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But it isn’t grape jelly. Mike said they have different jelly made out of guava or pineapple – I don’t think that sounds very good personally. 🙂 Then for dinner, there is a local who cooks – it is mainly rice and beans and some chicken.
I told Mike about all of you praying for them and all the responses and encouragement I have received. He keeps hearing about everyone praying and the church groups coming to
serve share about the support from their hometowns. Mike was so grateful and a little surprised, I think. He said that it is easy to forget that what they are doing isn’t “normal”.
So, please know that your prayers are very appreciated and what YOU are doing is having an eternal effect! Thank you so much!
